Drag Queen Havdalah with Tara Hoot



SATURDAY, DECEMBER 7th

At Temple Shalom
8401 Grubb Rd, Chevy Chase, MD

Help us to add light to the world through sparkles as we have a fabulous, early-Hanukkah celebration, and Drag Story Hour, followed by a glamorous family Havdalah experience.  There will be hands-on dress-up activities followed by local Drag Queen Tara Hoot reading stories with messages of tolerance and respect, themed to Hanukkah. We will close with a glitzy Havdalah ceremony and a pizza dinner.  (Bring your sparkles!!)

 
  • 5:00 PM Gathering Activities  - Dress up, crafts
  • 5:15 PM - 6:15 Tara Hoot Show
  • 6:15-6:30 Havdalah led by clergy 
  • 6:30-7:30 Pizza Dinner

Please let us know if you will need gluten free or cheeseless pizza. 

Come as you are or as you want to be—costumes welcome but not required. 

All ages welcome. 

This program is a collaboration of Temple Shalom, Temple Emanuel, The Kurlander Program for GLBTQ Outreach & Engagement (GLOE) at the Edlavitch DCJCC, and PJ Library of Greater Washington. Temple Shalom is proud to partner with The Jewish Federation of Greater Washington to present Kulanu as part of the Belonging Grants Program.
 

Funds raised that exceed the cost of the program will be donated to ​Keshet: For LGBTQ+ Equality in Jewish Life
